After a late season date change the Bertil Roos Race Series returns to BeaveRun for the second time this year with changing weather conditions.
Group 1 Race 1:
With Group 1 ready to go out Glenn Brooks, who was quick all weekend, was on pole with returning multiple time Series champ Mark Vultaggio in 2nd. Coming out of turn 1 it was Glenn still in 1st but as the lap went on Mark was the first to error and spun but stayed on track rejoining the race last. Next in Line to take over 2nd was up and coming driver Federico Mosconi being pressured by Dave Long. Federico would be the next to error dropping himself to last. Behind them was the battle between Earl Ihrie and Zane Gibbs and on lap 7 Zane would move up to the 4th spot. A late race charge saw Justin Onderko close in on Dave Long but was unable to get by. The race then ended with Glenn taking a dominate win, Dave in 2nd, Justin 3rd, Zane 4th and Earl 5th.
Group 2 Race 1:
While the racing in Group 1 was exciting all eyes would be on Group 2 as the 2 championship contenders would go head to head with contender number 1, Time Nichols, on pole, a good performance by Andy Ourant saw him start from 2nd and contender number 2, Paul Alspach, starting 3rd. at the start Tim would lead being followed by Andy but in turn 1 Paul would spin and have a difficult time getting turned around and rejoining a long way back. The top 3 position would spread out in the opening laps with Tim in 1st, Andy 2nd and now Alastair in 3rd. Eyes now went to the battle for 4th with Andrea Giusti and Ira Nesbitt trading positions on lap 4, staying close together and on the last lap making the final trade that saw Andrea passing Ira. In the end it was Tim with the win, Andy in 2nd, Alastair 3rd, Andrea 4th, and Ira 5th.
Group 1 Race 2:
With the dominance he showed in race 1 all were expecting another runaway by Glenn and he was more than happy to do so even in very wet conditions. At the start it was Glenn leading out of Turn 1 and that was all she wrote as he ran off to the race win. Behind him Dave and Justin started up a good battle with Justin overtaking Dave on lap 5 the two would remain close for most of the race. Behind them Mark was having a difficult time with things but over taking Zane in the new conditions. These would end up catching out first Zane and then Earl with spins and offs. Keeping a cool head about him was Federico who by a good start and staying on the track found himself back to 4th. At the flag it was Glenn in 1st, Justin in 2nd, Dave 3rd, Federico 4th and Mark 5th.
Group 2 Race 2:
This was it, Tim would start 1st and Paul last, and whoever wins the race, wins the championship. Tim got the jump at the start to lead with Andy in 2nd and at the end of the first lap with a good start and great driving Paul was up to 3rd, followed by Alastair in 4th and Andrea in 5th. On lap 5 Paul had now caught and passed Andy for 2nd, now the race was truly on. With Tim slightly struggling in the opening part of the race in the conditions Paul was able to lap by lap get slightly closer. On lap 11 Paul was right behind Tim and on lap 13 we had a pass for the lead, Paul passed Tim. Tim would regroup and mount an attack back on Paul but was unable to make it stick. As the last flag of the season dropped it was Paul with the win and Tim in 2nd, Andy would finish 3rd, Alastair 4th, and Andrea 5th. |
